The title of our work and the type of media chosen:
If we were a landscape. We will make a video.
Si nous étions un paysage. Nous allons réaliser une vidéo.
Our idea on our work:
I have chosen this place to represent me because this place awake some memories in me: it's at this place that I learned to walk and when I was younger, when I wasn't fine I went to this place to resource me. Moreover,we hope that the visitors will understand our personnality: we are calm and we like nature, freedom and animals. We hope, too, that the visitors will understand why we have chosen this place to represent us.
Relevant song:
"Earth song" of Michael Jackson. This song is about nature and peace. With this song, Michael Jackson wanted to increase public awareness of what we do on the nature, the planet. This song represent our work very well because our work speaks a lot about nature: we wanted you to understand that nature is a very good present and it's not necessary to modify it; we must protect and preserve it.

The beauty
Today, we realize that physical appearance is more important than in the 20's. Today, we haven't got the same definition of beauty as in the 20's.
Beauty is so important, a "Miss France" competition was created in 1910.
In the 20's, a pretty woman had to have some forms, whereas today models are very thin. Thus, beauty always worried more or less the human: 77 000 years ago, humans were already worried by beauty; even the man of Neandertal was looking for beauty.
The beauty's search at the human, isn't recent, that's why l'Oreal Foundation decided to publish an enormous encyclopedia called"100 000 years of beauty". Then, some others writers decided to publish some beauty's books. Thus, in the course of years, beauty is more and more important for human (above all for woman who use a lot of cosmetics) but beauty's meaning change in the course of generations.

Sandy Skoglund:Radioactive Cats (1980)

1) Words/ideas/feelings that come to mind...
Strange animals, old people, uglyness, old furniture
2) This photo is part of a series called "Family Portraits"...
What kind of is it?!(it's a photographic portrait, but it's also...)?
This photographic portrait looks like a painting.
3) What does it show (describe the various elements, the situation, the atmosphere, etc.)?
It shows some strange, ugly and green cats. It's a morbide atmosphere because there aren't no colours juxt two cold colours which are green and black.I suppose the scene takes place in a kitchen.
4) What are the themes?(ugliness...)
The themes are uglyness and old age.
5) What is the "message" (if any)?
Maybe the illustrator wants to show us radioactivity's danger.
6)What, based on this example, is the purpose of (this work of)"art"?

A world of opposites
How we see ourself is conditionned by the images around: the images reflect in we reinforce in our mind societies values.
Game: take photos of the world arrond you ( pub, pictures, places things events... but not real people) on the theme of contrast.
Ugly: Beautiful
Weak: Stong
Dumb: Smart/ Bright/ Clever/ Intelligent...
Nasty: Nice
Ill: Healthy
Bad: Good
Quiet: Loud
ETC...
Put this images on your blogs with comments.
We often think in terms of opposites, like "ugly" versus "beautiful". Beauty is perhaps in the eye beholder, but advertisers reinforce our simplistic-binary vision of the world, two conditions our way of seeing things; we hand up thinking on steriotipes.
Should we not nuance our vision of things? Are people just "ugly" or "beautiful"?Our way of seeing others can be destructive of others...When looking at a portrait or someone's self-portrait, go beyond juging a person by their appearence, who they are is more important than what they look like. Ask yourself's: what can I learn from a person's appearence; how is his /her life, his/her feelings "written" on his/her face?
